Dans le département de la Loire-atlantique (44), la mine d'Abbaretz (vers Nantes) est une ancienne mine d'étain.

I would say it's about a 6-hour drive from Compiegne. From what I've seen, it's definitely worth going there.
Also, if you're willing to drive to Nantes from there (I think about an hour away), you might want to go to this skatepark: Le hangar
